Respected Hussain and other people who read this, In my opinion Sridevi looked the best in the film " Nigahen ". She danced perfectly in the song "Kise Dhoondta hai pagal sapere" in the film. Also, the actor who was the best match for Sridevi on screen is Sunny Deol( who is her co star in the film 'Nigahen'). But, as always an actress's or actor's best performance is often overlooked by people. Nigahen might not have done as well as ' Nagina '. However, I love watching it again and again. Just watch the scene where Sridevi, clad in a saffron saree with blue fiery eyes, rescues Sunny from the Asram. Also the scene where she catches the bullet fired at Sunny while travelling on a jeep. She indeed looked as if a Devi had stepped down on earth to rescue. She is a Devi to in my eyes. I bow my head to you Sri Devi! Yours Sincerely, Neel
I totally agree with you. Nigahen might be underrated but I really love it as it is a sequel to one of my fav movies ever i.e. Nagina.
What I love about Nigahen are many things. Ofcourse the songs come within the list.
- The bullet scene is one of my fav - Sri's look and performance and the background music.
- The last scene before the ending song the way Sri acts with her eyes and her fight with Anupam is just amazing
- The scene where first Anupam finds Sri at the temple and when he remeber's rajni' character from Nagina with Main Teri Dushman is just fantastic.
I think Sridevi is very well presented in Harmesh Malhotra's movies in terms of her characters, picturization and look as well. If you just take a look at the movies they have done together and disregarding the fate of the movie in the box office, you will see Sri is really presented good in his films such as : - Nagina 1986 - Sherni 1988 - Nigahen 1989 - Banjaran 1991 - Heer Ranjha 1992
Harmesh Malohotra after Nagina (which is his dearest and most fav film he ever made) was a total Sri fan. A very loyal director and used to make films and stories revolving around Sridevi and for her instead of casting her in existing scripts or project.
Respected Hussain, It was great to read your reply, as always. Yes, Sridevi looked divine in the temple scene when she protests against the tantric. I must say that she looked superb in her white dress when she enters the temple and uses her power to rescue the serpent. In my opinion she looked better than her white-clad appearance as "Rajni" in ' Nagina'. If you look at her face distinctly then we can see that her make up was much more refined in 'Nigahen' than her make-up in 'Nagina', including the coloured contact lenses. I think that Sridevi was the first actress to make coloured lenses to be used widely. Thanks to 'Nagina'. Harmesh Malhotra made films for Sridevi, yes its absolutely true. However, I must say that Nagina and Nigahen were the only two films that could measure up to Sridevi's talent. The other films were not really interesting in my opinion. However, I didn't forget to watch Sridevi in those films as I like her in all her movies. I love the song " Ye jeevan jitni baar mile, har baar mujhe tera pyaar mile" from Banjaran. She looked gorgeous in all her movies.... But I think Chandini was the movie that made use of her beauty the most!!!!! No one else could look as beautiful as her in a saree and that too in a white one!!! It seems saree was being discovered only for her!!!!
Sri looks divine in Nigahein. She looks much better here than in Nagina. But Nagina was a better directed film. I also think Sri's climax snake dance in Nigahein was far superior to Nagina. The steps are much more difficult. Sri also looks more glamorous and intense in the golden dress
